Out and About

Atlantean 236 has been, for many years, been a "work-horse" of the new CPPTD - the City of Portsmouth Preserved Transport Depot and we hope that in due course with the long-awaited move to new premises that it will be seen out and about more frequently.

During the "exile period" at Warnford, 236 has not seen much service - but we hope to remedy this in the near future.

GOOD NEWS! - CPPTD have now found a new home in Portchester (right on the edge of the original CPPTD's operating area).  Atlantean 236 has now been moved and we hope will be out and about much more in the future.

On Saturday 4th November 2006, a small event was staged to mark the 75th anniversary of route 17 & 18 in Portsmouth.  What is so exciting about marking a route's birthday, you may ask?  Well, it turns out that this route started in 1931 as tram route, number 17 /18 and subsequently became a trolley bus route, also as route 17 & 18.  In fact, the very last trolley bus to run in Portsmouth entered Eastney depot having run from the Dockyard as route 17.  It was also the first time that some of the CPPTD collection has been seen in Portsmouth again for over a year.  Our "gallery" page has a couple of pictures.
