| Introduction | |
|
These trips are open to everyone, Friend or not. But Friends of CPPTD get advance notice and booking and there is a £2.50 per person surcharge for bookings not made by Friends. Another good reason, if one is needed to become a Friend and support the preservation of our great transport heritage. We've placed all our current trip brochures and information on this web page. All the documents are in adobe portable document format (pdf). Most recent Internet browsers will be equipped with the necessary software to read these files - if you need to download a viewer, click on the image at the end of this paragraph to be taken to Adobe's corporate web site where you can download your own (free) copy of the viewer software. We will, of course, continue to mail out information and include it within BSBS - you'll just find it sooner here |

| 2008 Trips | |
| Our summer
trip this year is on Sunday 1st June and is a trip to Swanage, which
includes a return trip on the Swanage Steam Railway. We are still taking
bookings - download the booking form here.
We are intending also to operate one or two summer evening trips using the vehicles from the collection and doing a bit of "route recreation" Details still being finalised, but will be available at the AGM and here soon after.

| Route Recreations | |
| This is a new
idea for 2008. We are going to take one of the vehicles out for an
evening, exclusively for members and recreate a run along one of the
former CPPTD routes into the City. With Pickups in Portchester, Port
Solent and Cosham, we'll then commence our recreation. Suggestions
for routes are welcome, but the first suggestions received are for
Routes 1 and 2 from Cosham, Red Lion to Southsea and short runnings of
the 143 route from Stanley Avenue (only) to Ferry Road and return in
both cases. Did other bus operators go to places called
"(only)", or is it something unique to Portsmouth. As we will
be using our own vehicles for these events, there is no charge, but we
do need someone, or a small group, to put the fuel into the vehicle and
the theme of the evening will be to let our members both enjoy an
evening out and benefit from your generosity in fund raising.
For more details and to book, contact your trip organiser. Details available through main website, or in BSBS |

| Isle of Wight Running Day | |
| 2008 Event
This year to be held on Sunday 19th October and we will be taking at least one vehicle over to the Island. If we get a minimum of 20 ferry passengers travelling with us, we can get the vehicle across for free. Booking forms will be available soon, but you can express your interest by sending an early booking form (link below) 2007 trip report Another glorious day! Brilliant warm sunshine, a millpond crossing of the Solent and a nearly full bus. So popular was this trip that we broke our own rule and sold seating on the upper deck for those brave enough to trust the weather. We did 2 runs from Newport to Godshill and on our return crossing by ferry, spotted both QE2 and Oriana sailing across our bows. Book early for 2008!

| Ensign Museum Running Day | |
| Usually the
first Saturday in December. Last year's trip was very popular with those
who came along with us. As the base for the Running Day is one of the
two massive shopping centres on the Thames Estuary (Lakeside or
Bluewater), there's plenty of opportunity to mix a bit of Christmas
Shopping with bus spotting. Not only that - last year we undercut
all the local coach operators on their Christmas Shopping Trips - so one
of you can watch the buses and the other one can go shopping and you'll
be a hero for arranging a day's Christmas Shopping - and we'll try not
to give the game away about knowing about the bus event in the first
place................
Details will be available soon - watch this space, as they say. |
